Ford Tops 2009 Sales

The official figures are in and are hardly a surprise to many. One in six new cars sold in the UK last year was a Ford, meaning they had a 17% share of the market. Ford continue to dominate the UK car industry, 2009 was the 33rd successive year they’ve been Britain’s number one. The Fiesta topped the charts of the most popular new car sold, followed by the Ford Focus in second place, meaning Ford took gold and silver in the model charts.

Ford sold 316,369 new cars in 2009, of which 35,200 were scrappage sales. This total is only 2% off their 2008 sales. 2010 looks set to be another tough year for the auto industry, but with the new S-MAX, Galaxy and C-MAX models released later this year, Ford are in a good place for the year ahead.
